Then I went for a run, ending up at mum's house where she cooked an early dinner for my brother, two nieces and me. It was homemade roasted butternut squash soup, followed by chicken supremes with broccoli in orange sauce with veg, and then meringue nests with raspberries and cream. Yum!You would have laughed if you saw me running - I'd borrowed mum's ladle which she wanted back for the soup, and of course I didn't have a bag on me, just my running kit, so I ran 4km carrying the ladle in my hand as I ran!
And home again, I've separated all the chain-sewn squares and pressed them all ready for matching into four-patches.I'm not sure I'll have time to finish these tonight - I want to have a look at what you're all up to, then I must have a shower, and I'm going out later for a beer or two...
Oooooo. I love the beer part. You accomplished a lot today.

ReplyDeleteThe railings are only half size above the front wall so it didn't take long. I thought that I'd done it quite efficiently - and tidily too - until later on sitting in the pub wearing a 3/4 sleeve top when I discovered where the gaps must have been between the overalls and the gloves - blobs of charcoal grey hammerite on the underside of forearms not a la mode apparently...

ReplyDeleteMum's a great traditional cook - we grew up with all home made dinners, pies, cakes & biscuits. Actually, I'm surprised we aren't all the size of a barn!

DeleteIt reminded me of the paper chains that you used to be able to buy (I'm not sure they were a British speciality - a pack of strips of coloured paper with one end gummed so the ends would stick together in a loop, then the next threaded though & made into a loop). Kept us quiet for ages making them, then dad strung them across from the ceiling. Ah - happy days!
Even I might have run towards that dinner!

I'm glad I changed my mind on the fabric - I'm really pleased with gold pattern fabric in particular.
