Having been given a jelly roll and a quilting book for Christmas 2010, there is no excuse not to get on with quiltmaking.

Here's what happened next...

Christmas QAL - September pt1

Needle, Thread, Happiness

Good morning, good morning!  Welcome one and all to this month's Christmas Quiltalong!  The QAL is like a pass the parcel game that Joanna and I are playing every month up to December where we have a weekend where we all set some time aside to work on our Christmas projects so we steal a march on those less organised - it's worth it for the smugness alone!

It's my turn this month, and so let me invite you all to join the party!  If you've not joined in the last few months, DON'T WORRY, as you are very welcome to be here now!

Here's where you sign up to Mr Linky (or on the tab at the top of page), so come on in, and help yourself to a coffee - oops - are we out of biscuits?  We'll have to put that right later on, won't we?

Feel free to work on your own Christmas projects or take up QuiltSue's FIENDISH CHALLENGE - can you make a Christmas item without using red or green fabric within the size guidelines set out here? Eek!

Here in the English Midlands, it is grey and dull, and I think we can all agree - it's a GREAT DAY FOR QUILTING!

  1. Good morning, here in Chesterfield the sun is now shining, I'm just making coffee before I start the challenge. My camera doesn't wasn't to take photos anymore, so I will have to use my phone.

    1. Good morning, Josie - you've sent some sunshine down the A38 to me, thank you! Look forward to seeing your Challenge - assuming you get over the additional challenge of using your phone to take pics!

  2. Here in the north(-ish)it's lovely and sunny.

Good morning everyone. I'm off to make coffee, then I think my daughter will call in for a short while, then I shall go sew.

    1. The day's improving here, Sue - washing's on the line as Josie has sent some nice weather my way.

Have a lovely time with your daughter.

  3. Good Morning! Here in the northeast of the USA it is sunny and comfortable; the humidity moved away at last and the windows are open to let in some fresh air. Perfect day for a quilt along.

    1. Nice that we've all got a good day - the forecast is for rain later, so I'm zooming off to the plot for an hour to see Grumpy George.

  4. Just dropping in to say "ello, ello matey" and apologise for not sewing today!

The weather is absolutely drop-dead, stunningly gorgeous with a whole jar of cherries on top. Blue sky, sunshine, perfect temperature. Daisy and I went to Latrigg first thing and felt remarkably pleased with ourselves that as we were returning to the car (about 11.00am after 3.5 miles) we passed numerous peoples just starting out, and we had enjoyed the summit in complete solitude and total silence.

Quick trip to Sainsbugs and now I'm going to have an afternoon pottering horticulturally.

Looking forward to the forecast rain tomorrow because THEN I can stay in and sew. Tra La! Have a lovely day.

    1. Smugness allowed for having enjoyed the best of the day at Latrigg.

I've some outdoor stuff to do tomorrow so if you could hang on to the rain until after lunch, it would be much appreciated. :-)

  5. Good afternoon from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia! Before I could join up, I promised myself I would finish the braid borders on Darlene's Mystery, and after a morning of sewing, I am done! After I inhale my lunch, I plan to link up and continue with the Christmas Dresden plates quilt I am making. See you later!
