Having been given a jelly roll and a quilting book for Christmas 2010, there is no excuse not to get on with quiltmaking.

Completing Quilting!

Following a good day of quilting today I have now finished all four mats & the runner – hurrah!

I trimmed the edges & I am now ready for binding – & I’m all ready to have a crack at that thanks to Bilbo, who sent me this link to a Youtube video made by www.connectingthreads.com of ‘how to bind a quilt’.

Pink seemed like a good colour to set the mats/runner off, so I bought a pink shirt from the charity shop yesterday & I’ve cut a whole load of 2 ½” strips ready, but I’ve done quite enough for one session, so that will have to wait for another day.

  1. Looking good Hazel, congrats. It was definitely sewing weather again today, I've managed to get a little table topper finished too, will post to my blog tomorrow.

  2. They look great Hazel. I love how you quilted each one differently, that was such a clever idea.

  3. Can't wait to see the finished job. My favourite bit is the binding because as you progress you can see how it will look when it's finished.

    And then it is!

  4. Many congratulations! Do you feel you've learnt from making them, and have you enjoyed it?

  5. I love your topper, Ali! :)

It's just playing with ideas at the stage, Sue - there's nothing like seeing what doesn't work to make you learn what does!

My favourite bit at the mo is the bit I've just stopped doing to go onto a bit that I don't know how to do, Flum!

Learning all the time, Bilbo - these might only be starter pieces, but I'll be mighty proud of them when I've finished!
