Having been given a jelly roll and a quilting book for Christmas 2010, there is no excuse not to get on with quiltmaking.

Here's what happened next...

That's Better!

Right - I've done the tedious unpicking bit, and I'm now doing the fun FMQ stars.

Whee!

There's lots of ends to bury at the end, though.

The grey border needs to be quilted, but I'm not sure how at the mo.

More conundrums!

  2. Grey border - do you know what 'piano keys' is? Easier to explain than type, so remind me to talk you through it when we chat.

  3. Thank you, Kim! I took a while getting there, but once I hit my stride there was no stopping me!

Too late for adding extras on this one, Bilbo - but I do want to chat on this (especially in the light of the diffence such a border has made to Reenie's quilt here: http://aquiltcomplex.blogspot.com/2011/11/inch-by-inch.html and here: http://aquiltcomplex.blogspot.com/2011/11/box-1.html).
Also I'll be picking your brains on the logistics of Mum's Quilt (with side panels) too.

  4. No worries H. My suggestion was going to be very similar to the "tramlines" you have done this evening.

Borders are far more important to quilts than a lot of people realise - I think months back you and I had the discussion about "picture framing".

Lots of options for your Mum's quilt, sure we can brainstorm a few ☺
