Having been given a jelly roll and a quilting book for Christmas 2010, there is no excuse not to get on with quiltmaking.

Quilting Mum's Quilt

After the excitement of the Christmas Quiltalong last weekend, I'm back in the attic room working on Mum's Quilt.

I've completed the doodled daisies in the centre of each of the blocks, and have to think about how I'd like to quilt the rest of the piece.

Those with longer memories will recall that I've already been round each nine-patch stitchin' in the ditch and I am now heeding Bilbo's advice of continuing with the SID round the block borders. I've just done the one this evening, and I do like the effect.

Next step will be daisy chains all round the red borders, and - I think - a small daisy in each cream triangle to finish with.

  1. Oh, that section on the left looks so lovely, well done you (can you see I am openly displaying type A obsessive compulsive tendencies towards excessive order? {{snortle}}) although there is a nadge of guilt that it sounds like I keep telling you what to do!

Seriously Hazel, your quilt is looking great and no-one would know that you've not been at this patchwork lark for years. You're creating something that your Mum will treasure, and that will give her pleasure every single day.

    1. I only take your advice when I think it's right, Bilbo! ;) And I'm sure that Mum will treasure it - in fact, if I remember correctly when she saw it this morning she said, 'hurry up!'

  2. This is going to look so great. I still think you've been a quilter for years, but have only just decided to tell us.

    1. You wouldn't think that if you saw how often the unpicker gets used, Sue!

  3. Oh, look how it is coming along! Won't be long and you will be all done with it. I am trying sooo hard to finish up some UFO's so I can try out a pattern or two out of Sue's book. I made myself promist that I would finish up some before I started anything. Darn me!!

    1. You're doing well, Reenie - I've just seen your blog update. Mind you, I just counted and you have 15 UFO's on your side bar, Reenie - keep stitchin'! ;-)

    1. Thank you, Mrs P - this bit seems to be going sloooooooowly, but I guess that I did have a week of 'thinking' and a week on the CQAL...
